Over 70 Top Golf Tour Operators (inc. travelServ GmbH) And Media From Around The World To Visit Dubai For The First IAGTO Super Fam Trip

With the recent announcement of the new golf courses being developed in the region, as well as the opening of Park Hyatt Dubai at Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club, Dubai Golf Holidays + Events has taken the initiative, together with IAGTO (International Association of Golf Tour Operators), DTCM (Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing) and Park Hyatt Dubai to invite over 70 leading tour operators and golf travel writers to Dubai for the first IAGTO Super Fam Trip from 8th-12th October.

The participants, 80% of whom are IAGTO members, have been meticulously selected and originate from over 22 countries worldwide, including the UK, USA, France, Germany, Spain, Malaysia, Portugal, Australia, India, Scandinavia, Hong Kong and Kenya. The international press will ensure the effective worldwide promotion of the event and Dubai as an established golf destination.

Dubai Golf began promoting the emirate internationally as a top golfing destination when Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club opened in 1993, and since its creation in 2002, Dubai Golf Holidays + Events has taken the lead to further position the emirate as a favourite destination incorporating sun, sea, shopping and golf.

The aim of the familiarisation trip is to showcase the destination to the international golfing market, as well as to strengthen business relations between Dubai Golf Holidays + Events and the international golf tour operators, the majority of which are already selling Dubai. The emirate, which was voted Emerging Golf Destination of the Year in 2001 by IAGTO members, has undergone a lot of changes during recent years and will continue to do so in the future, due to the announcement of many more planned courses to add to its stunning portfolio. Therefore, there is a need to communicate these changes to the tour operators to enable them to market Dubai effectively to their clients.

The highlight of the week will be a three-day golf tournament providing the opportunity for participants, all of whom have an average handicap of less than 10, to play three of Dubai's championship golf courses. Day One will be a Texas scramble practice round at Dubai Creek and Days Two and Three will be individual stablefords with full handicaps, played at Emirates Golf Club's Majlis Course and Al Badia Golf Resort respectively. There will be a prize for the Best Team on Day One and an Individual Prize for Days Two and Three combined. Furthermore, there will also be prizes for the Best Dressed Lady and Best Dressed Gentleman on Day Two.

"It is the first time a golf familiarisation trip of this scale has been organised," said Michelle Chedotal, General Manager, Dubai Golf Holidays + Events. "We feel now is the right time for the event to take place not only because of our ability to host the tour operators at the new Park Hyatt Dubai but also because we want to showcase Dubai for a possible Established Golf Destination of the Year award in the future. Dubai is one of the most happening and dynamic cities in the world, so what better place for a first ever event?"

"We look forward to welcoming Peter Walton, CEO IAGTO, along with the tour operators and golf travel writers to Dubai and we hope that they have an enjoyable week experiencing true Arabian hospitality and world-class golf"
added Chedotal.

Dubai Golf Holidays + Events would like to thank all their partners who have made the event possible, including Park Hyatt Dubai, the DTCM, Dubai's golf courses, the Royal Mirage and Bab Al Shams.
